At Grupo Intercom, we are market leaders in creating and developing internet-based businesses in Spain. In the past 15 years, we have created more than 45 online businesses, most of which are classifieds. We're proud of our success stories, which include Softonic.com, emagister.com and InfoJobs.net.

1995

We started life as Intercom Online in Catalonia (Cerdanyola del Vallés) in May 1995, with 23 founding partners. Intercom Online was a high quality Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Towards the end of 1995, the first of Grupo Intercom's businesses launches: Noticias.com, a news website about new technologies.

1996

We create two complementary businesses: Consulting Intercom Information Technology consultancy and Plug Intercom offering multimedia content creation and online marketing.

1997

Softonic.com, a software download portal, launches, initially called Shareware Intercom.

1998

We create InfoJobs.net as a result of our own need for sourcing and hiring specialised personnel experienced in new technologies.

1999

We create our Business Development department to boost the creation of new projects.

Towards the end of this year, SoloStocks.com, a portal for B2B purchase and sale, launches.

2000

Intercom Online, Consulting Intercom and Plug Intercom were sold to Cable&Wireless, a British multinational and one of the main global internet operators. Using the profits gained from this sale, together with its 110 founding partners, the present incubator Grupo Intercom was founded. The goal of the newly created Grupo Intercom was to boost the creation and development of new internet-based businesses.

Due to Grupo Intercom's growth, in both our number of businesses and employees, we opened new offices in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona).

April; we launch the consultancy infoAvisos.com, a site dedicated to the development and implementation of mobile and SMS solutions.

September; emagister.com was born, the guide for online learning, specialising in distance learning and on-site courses.

2001

January; we create the Grupo Intercom de Capital SCR, SA corporation to make capital investments in new businesses, as well as offering financial, legal, marketing, communication, strategical and technological support to entrepreneurs. In October, the Catalan investment group CORSABE invested 1.68m Euros in InfoJobs.net and Softonic.com. In April of the following year, CORSABE paid  2.4m Euros for its 10% stake in Grupo Intercom.

We also launch acambiode.com, a businesses directory for freelance or independent professionals interested in business exchange; and MailxMail.com, a platform for open e-learning and free training.

2002

We launch our first social site, tuPatrocinio.com, a platform connecting companies offering sponsorship with those looking for sponsors for their projects (in exchange for publicity, tax advantages, image, etc).

miparcela.com, an online service to find plots of land for sale in Spain, launches in August.

2003

Launch of Neurona.com, a professional social network.

2004

In May, Trader Classified Media, a leading group for classified advertisment publishing, purchased 60% of InfoJobs.net for 13.7m Euros, although Grupo Intercom retained operational and managerial responsibility.

This year marked the beginning of our international expansion with the launch of InfoJobs Italy (Careesma) and Softonic Germany.

Launch of TiendasenLiquidacion.com, a site about opportunities for retail sales (such as stocks sales and outlets); and of CosasdeBarcos.com, a website about the sale and rental of boats and moorings, as well as the hiring of crew.

2005

Launch of InfoPraca (Careesma Poland), which along with Careesma.at (Austria), lauched in 2006, and InfoJobs Italia, created in 2004,  conform the International online jobboard Careesma.com.

This year, we create four other businesses: Niumba.com, a directory of holiday apartments for rent; paraBebes.com, a directory of products and services for parents and babies; infoElder.com, a guide for services and products for elderly people; enAlquiler.com, a specialised directory for house and apartment rental.

2006

We launch both unAplauso.com, a website for show business supply and demand; and Intercom Empresas, a directory of business activities.

At the end of 2006, the second phase of the purchase of InfoJobs.net was carried out on behalf of Anuntis Segundamano (a company resulting from the merger of Trader Segundamano with Anuntis).

2007

In March, we moved to our new offices in Sant Cugat (Barcelona) and in July we opened a new office in Madrid. Niumba was the first project to launch from the Madrid office.

In June, the sale of Neurona.com, to the German company Xing.com, was completed.

Construmatica.com, a platform for architectural-based content and information on engineering and construction in Spain, was born. We also launch: JefeDeCompras.com, a site featuring professional ads for companies; directodelcampo.com, a site featuring classified ads for natural and ecological products sent directly to your home; Incondicionales.com, an online community for football fans; and JobisJob.com, an aggregator of job boards.

This year was also important for the launch of our social project, artesanum.com, an online platform where craftsmen from around the world can easily create a 'shop window' on the internet, make their products known, and available for sale, through the net. We pledged to donate, for a period of 20 years, the total amount of profits made to social projects in developing countries, where craftsmanship is one of the main sources of income.

2008

We create our business incubator in Germany.

In July, Softonic opened new offices in Barcelona.

Launch of ediciona.com, a portal for professionals and companies within the publishing sector; citrusparadis.com, an online store of ecological and natural cosmetics; encooche.com, an online community and service directory for drivers; mundoAnimalia.com, the world of pets; and iVoox.com, podcasting and audio on demand.

2009

We launch 12designer.com, the first business from our German incubator.

The sale of the third share package of InfoJobs to Schibsted went through, and Grupo Intercom retains a 1.5% participation until the end of 2013.

Launch of Qapacity.com, creator of websites for professionals and companies; Trendtation.com, a community for fashion and trends;HomeforHome.com, a holiday housing exchange; Paradizo.com, luxury travel and deluxe holidays; rememori.com, publication of death notices and obituaries; bSherpas.com, an investment, entrepreneur and collaborator community; Motofan.com, the sale and purchase of motorcycles and accessories; Finday.com, a social search engine and website ranking; and IntercomAdsites.com, for the purchase and management of websites.

2010

The multinational Digital River Inc. acquired a share of almost 15% of Softonic.com.

Launch of BaobabPlanet.com, a multiplatform online game for children; and TheNeedFactory.com, a bidding platform in which professionals can offer their best quotes in response to a user's request.

2011

Launch of Careesma India and of Espaciodeco.com, a decoration portal and meeting point for professionals.

2012

Teaming.net, which promotes the concept of micro-donations done on a team basis, is launched in January. Shortly after we launch QueRico.com food-centred e-commerce web.
